Place in paradise

Place in paradise

This can be your safe haven. The space where you do your inner work.

When you have a task to complete which involves a lot of focus, it helps if the space that you are working in is calm and you have space to sit comfortably. This is why we may have a ‘study’ in our house.

The same applies when we work with our own feelings and inner worlds. We benefit from having a peaceful, safe place from which to do the work.

What is this place and why

The point of having a place of paradise is that you enter it for your own comfort and healing.  It is a place where you go to ‘do the work’. It can be anything that you want it to be. I call the visualisation ‘Place in paradise’. The place that you create could be a beach, a wide open space, a valley, anything you want.

Sometimes when doing this visualisation an individual may walk into a place that was seemingly already there. This is because in the Shamanic realms these places already exist and everyone has one.

I visited my father’s Paradise garden once without knowing during a healing session and it was completely different to mine. It was so neat and tidy. All the bushes and hedges were neatly trimmed and the grass was cut. It was nothing like mine which was wild and free.

You may also find that your place of paradise evolves as you do and that the plants, animals and surroundings change somewhat. At one point I didn’t visit mine for years and then when I eventually did, the fences had gone and I found myself observing an endless valley of flowers with pure blue sky on a sunny summer’s day.

Exercise 4 – Place in Paradise

Sit comfortably, slow down and deepen the breath.  Relax the body.

From the base of your spine, send a golden root into the centre of the earth, anchoring you down. Drink up earth energy into the base of the spine, up the spinal cord, filling the nerves of your body and moving eventually to the brain.  Relax the mind. Let go.

Start walking up a golden path, which turns into a steep incline and then into golden steps. At the top of the steps is a beautiful Golden door. Unlock the door with a key that only you have (you always hold the key to your inner worlds whether you are aware of it or not). Open it and step into the most beautiful paradise that you have ever seen. Close the door behind you. Take a good look around at your paradise.

If you don’t experience it, then create one by placing all of your favourite trees, plants, flowers, scenes and time of day in it.

What type of plants and trees do you have in it? What colour are the butterflies and flowers? What time of day is it and where about’s in the sky is the sun?

Sit down and listen to the types of sounds that you would like to hear in your paradise.  Get a sense of the type of aromas you’d love to smell and how the ground beneath you would feel.

Relax here in your space, breathe slowly, deeply and enjoy. There is nothing you need to think or do here. Just enjoy it.

After a long while here, get up and walk back to the golden door.  Open it, walk out closing and locking it behind you with your key. Walk back down the steps to the path and back into your body sitting in meditation and notice how you feel.  Take a deep breath, wiggle your fingers and toes, suck your tongue, take a stretch and open your eyes.

This is a place that you may return to whenever you wish.  Over time you can get great healing and transformations here in this space.  It is your personal sacred space. There are many visualisations like this one which suggests that it is a powerful and useful tool to have in your Transformational toolbox.

I journeyed head long into the cause of my mental and emotional states, uncovering the mysteries that I had been seeking in the haven of my Paradise Garden. True healing comes when you face and embrace yourself with honesty, truth, compassion and love.

Though some of the areas covered may appear heavy or dark in content, the outcome and opportunity for growth there was at its highest. As I mentioned before, where there is darkness, there is a lack of love and understanding. These were my deepest teachers and I approve of every one of them.

Understanding what the ego actually is and looking at its wants and needs brings understanding and growth. If you want to change something, you have to know what it is first.

The processes of grounding, protection and a safe place to heal are fundamental to a smoother inner journey so make sure you always start with these before moving into the next steps.
